Compared with the normal Vaccine attribute it has a rougher personality and thus has become more fiercer, but its intellect hasn't disappeared and it will still corner opponents whilst cooperating with its comrades. ^Note-1The viral Greymon first appeared in Starter 3 of the Digital Monsters Card Game Hyper Colosseum where it was named 'Greymon'. It later appeared in the fighting game Battle Chronicle under the name 'BlackGreymon'. The American release of the fighting game, released as Rumble Arena 2, called it BlackGreymon.

Bandai of Japan continues to go back and forth on how they name these black variants. BlackWarGreymon being the best example. First released in Starter 3 of the Digital Monsters Card Game Hyper Colosseum where it was named 'WarGreymon'. It later appeared in D3 Ver. 1 and Digimon Zero Two as BlackWarGreymon. The cards continued calling it 'WarGreymon'. but all games would call it BlackWarGreymon. BlackWarGreymon would not get its own card until SPa-2 and has since been referred to as BlackWarGreymon in all media.

^Note-2The first viral Greymon on St-137 seems to share the design structure of the Toei Vaccine Greymon, in that they both have three claws on their feet. Later, the viral Greymon was seen with four claws on its feet. This appears for the first time on St-776.
