Note-1 The viral Gabumon first appeared in
Starter 3 of the Digital Monsters Card Game Hyper
Colosseum where it was named 'Gabumon'. It would appear
once more in
Ultimate Battle Deck 4 and still under the name
'Gabumon'. It then appeared in the fighting game
Battle Chronicle under the name 'BlackGabumon'. The
American release of the fighting game, released as
Rumble Arena 2, called it BlackGabumon. Much later, the
new card games called Card Game Alpha and Battle
Terminal continued to call this Digimon 'Gabumon'. Most
recently, In second set of Digimon Jintrix Card Game,
the viral Gabumon was called 'BlackGabumon'.
Bandai of Japan continues to go back and forth on how
they name these black variants.
BlackWarGreymon
being the best example. First released in
Starter 3 of the Digital Monsters Card Game Hyper
Colosseum where it was named 'WarGreymon'. It later
appeared in
D3 Ver. 1 and
Digimon Zero Two as BlackWarGreymon. The cards continued
calling it 'WarGreymon'. but all games would call it
BlackWarGreymon. BlackWarGreymon would not get its own
card until
SPa-2
and has since been referred to as BlackWarGreymon in all
media.
Another example of Bandai's inconsistent naming
policies is the
Digimon Dictionary; where the viral Agumon is called
'Agumon
(Black)' and the viral WarGreymon is called 'BlackWarGreymon'.
A new card game, Digimon Jintrix, seems to be finally
settling on a name for these black variants. The viral
MetalGarurumon, long called 'MetalGarurumon' in the card
game is called
BlackMetalGarurumon. |
